This Privacy Policy describes how Social Eclipse Ltd, trading as Memotale (“Memotale,” “we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from memotale.com (the “Site”).


Personal Information We Collect

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

Finally, when you use our services to create a personalised book, we collect content that you voluntarily provide(“Story Content”), including:

  • Text responses (memories, stories, personal information about you or others you choose to include).

  • Uploaded photos and images.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking about Device Information, Order Information, and Story Content.


How We Use Your Personal Information

We use the Personal Information that we collect to:

  • Fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for printing and shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations).

  • Create and customise your personalised book using the Story Content you provide.

  • Communicate with you about your order, updates, or customer support requests.

  • Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud.

  • Improve and optimise our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We will never use your Story Content (photos, stories, text) for marketing or advertising without your explicit consent.


Sharing Your Personal Information

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us provide our services, as described above. For example:

  • We use printing and fulfilment partners to produce and ship your books. These partners receive only the information and files necessary to fulfil your order and are bound by confidentiality and data protection agreements.

  • We use trusted technology providers (such as hosting, analytics, and automation tools) to operate our services.

Where such transfers occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.


Data Retention

  • Order Information: retained for at least 6 years to comply with UK accounting and tax obligations.

  • Story Content (photos, text, memories): stored only as long as necessary to create and deliver your book, and deleted within 6 months of order fulfilment unless you explicitly consent to longer storage (e.g. for easy reordering).

  • Marketing Data: retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.


Children’s Privacy

Our Site is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information about a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.


Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in order to reflect changes to our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons.
